Articulation and Connection with Cliff Smyth

Dates: Friday to Sunday: May 16 – 18 and June 20 – 22

Cost:  $600. Early bird by April 14, $560. Includes 12 ATM CD program.

‘Our hands are central to our self-image – how we touch, manipulate and sense the world and ourselves. This workshop focuses on how fingers, hands and arms articulate and connect to torso, pelvis – and our whole selves. Working with clients’ hands and arms is an essential part of effective FI, affecting everything from gesture to the tonus of the whole body.’

In ‘Articulation and Connection’ you will learn to change the focus for your clients from injury to function, from the hands to the whole self. It will feature:

  • doing Awareness Through Movement® lessons that promote the integration of the hands and arms with dynamic support and effective transmission of force through the skeleton
  • modifying ATMs for people with hand and arm injuries
  • FI demonstrations of working in supine, sidelying, prone and sitting
  • teaching your clients touch and movement to help themselves
  • working with people with hand and arm injuries, especially repetitive strain injuries
  • viewing a Functional Integration® lesson given by Moshe Feldenkrais
  • helping people with functional activities such as lifting, grasping, keyboarding and handwriting
  • study notes and handouts.

The two weekend format will give you the chance to use your learning and come back to share your questions and refine your learning.

’Since I took this workshop I use what I learned – with a lot of success.‘ Irit Lippl, Feldenkrais Practitioner

’Cliff is a very passionate and compassionate teacher in our community. He has made a significant impact in informing the way I think and work with individuals with overuse injuries. I highly recommend his teaching.’
