Jean Elvin

Jean Elvin

Jean Elvin has been actively integrating mind, body and spirit in her teaching, as well as in her personal life, for 25 years. Ms. Elvin has been teaching Sounder Sleep since 2004. She has a Master of Fine Arts degree, is a Guild Certified Feldenkrais PractitionerCM, and a Senior Teacher of the Sounder Sleep System®. In addition to teaching through the Feldenkrais Center for Movement Education in San Francisco, she has been teaching Sounder Sleep at Integrated Healing Arts in Palo Alto, and through Stanford University's Health Improvement Program, part of the Health Prevention Research Center, HPRC, housed in the school of medicine.

In her own words: "I was drawn to this system in 2001 because I needed more rest. I felt so good after a three day 'sominar' that, over the next two years, I signed up again and again. Initially, I was surprized how much resistance I felt to letting down. My internal drive was habitually tuned to overlapping cycles of action, without adequate rest between. I realized that I had been equating 'etting down and resting' with 'becoming less productive.' Now, I enjoy my healthy need for rest and sleep. It helps me keep my productive edge while also maintaining a happier nature."

"I enjoy sharing this material with others because there is such a great need for it. Although Sounder Sleep includes plenty of techniques to help you get to sleep, it's not just a couple of techniques to use before bed - it's a whole system to help you address the imbalances which contribute to insomnia, hyperarousal, and fatique. That's what makes it so effective.'
